Overview of Utility Services
Guthrie Utilities delivers water, sewer, and sanitation services. These services reach residents within the city and extend to portions of neighboring communities, including areas that cross county and state boundaries.
Natural Gas Service Information
Guthrie Utilities does not provide natural gas. Residents needing gas service should contact licensed energy providers operating in the region.
Utility Billing Procedures
Utility staff issue monthly bills, typically by the end of each month. Payments are due by the 10th of the following month. A financial penalty will apply if a payment is received after the due date. If bills remain unpaid by the 21st, a service fee will be added, and service may be disconnected. Please note that utility accounts currently do not accept debit or credit card payments.
Deposits and Tap Fee Requirements
A standard deposit must be paid to start service. Additionally, new water and sewer connections require tap fees. These charges support infrastructure access and administrative processing.
Residential Garbage Collection Schedule
Garbage collection takes place once a week. Curbside pickup occurs midweek, so containers should be placed at the curb the night before.
After pickup, containers must be removed from the curb on the same day to maintain cleanliness and compliance.
Recycling and Compactor Site Access
Residents may access the city’s recycling and compactor site with valid proof of residency or a utility account. Plastics, aluminum, and cardboard are accepted.
Access is available for households outside city limits by purchasing an annual permit through municipal offices.
Current Utility Rate Structure
Water and sewer services follow a tiered rate structure based on usage levels. Sanitation and compactor services are billed at fixed monthly rates.
Rates vary by customer type:
- In-town residential
- Out-of-town residential (water service only)
- Commercial accounts (usage volume and service type)
Staff review rate structures periodically to reflect changes in infrastructure costs and regional benchmarks.
Underground Utility Protection and Excavation Notification
To protect underground infrastructure, Guthrie Utilities follows a statewide excavation notification system. Anyone planning to dig must notify utility operators at least two working days in advance.
The process runs through a state-managed “Call Before You Dig” program. This system helps prevent service disruptions, damage, and injuries during excavation activities.
Additional Utility Information
